Conversation:

Ronny: Hi, it's a beautiful place right?

hai, ini tempat yang indah bukan?

May: Yes, I always come here.

Ya, aku sering datang ke sini.

Ronny: Excuse me, My name is Ronny, what's yours?

Maaf, namaku Ronny, Namamu siapa?

May: My name is May. By the way, are you a student?

Namaku May, Ngomong-ngomong, apakah kamu adalah seorang murid?

Ronny: Yeah, I go to ELC.

Ya, aku pergi ke ELC.

May: I see, Where do you come from?

Oh, begitu. Dari mana asalmu?

Ronny: I am from Australia. What about you?

Aku dari Australlia. Bagaimana dengan mu?

May: I am from America. Well, it's already 2. I've got to get back. Nice to see you, bye!

Aku dari Amerika. Aduh, sekarang sudah jam 2. Aku harus pergi. Senang bertemu denganmu. Sampai Jumpa!

Ronny: Nice to see you too! Bye!

Penggunaan to be.

Bentuk to be: is, am, are hanyalah kata bantu dan tidak memiliki arti khusus. Bentuk to be digunakan sesudah subjek dan sebelum nomina, Adverbia, dan Adjektiva.

Am digunakan untuk = I

Is digunakan untuk = He, She, It

Are digunakan untuk = We, They

Contoh:

1. I am from Australlia. (adverbia).

2. We are in the class. (adverbia)

3. My parents are teachers. (nomina)

4. He is a student. (nomina)

5. She is fine. (adjektiva)

6. I am ok. (adjektiva)

Contoh kesalahan yang biasa dilakukan:

1. I am live in Bandung.

= I live in Bandung

2. I happy today.

= I am happy today.

3. The cats is here.

= The cats are here.
